For anyone curious about my "special sauce" in terms of the post-processing, I'm pretty open about the fact that I have a significant amount of work after the studio. In fact, I was a Photoshop kid for a decade before I was a photographer.
From time to time, I pose examples of my post-processing. Usually they are on my own photos, but sometimes I like to see what I can do with something begun by someone else (with permission only).
This photo is a self-portrait by the incredibly fast learner, Caracal (!theadacat) which she graciously let me do my magic on. I hope you feel I have added something to this version.
Note: I have asked for critiques. Please compare with the original before critiquing this version, and only comment on my work. If you would like to critique the original, I think Caracal would be delighted-- but do it on her version.
I very much already enjoyed Ada's version, as you know. But I definitely think your "special sauce" has made the image much more dramatic, which definitely adds to the image.
Though I enjoyed the original of this, I think I like this one better, because a little post work never hurts, and now you can see the defining lines in the throat, and the other edge of the fabric. Either way, I love them both
The only thing I might've done different was change the color of the cloak to a cool tone since her skin tone is now nearly grayscale. I do love this and the original just as much
